Ceremony of the heat; sweatlodges; Sitting in a small tent like an igloo, made out of branches covered with blankets. Sitting on the earth, in darkness, around hot, glowing stones. There might be many people but each one is sitting alone, led by the one who is pooring water on the stones. With the help of burning medicinal herbs and the help of hot steam, deep relaxation can take place. The drum and ancient melodies will lead the awarness out of the daily ocupation into a space where the sacredness of beeing alive can be touched. Your own breath, your own heartbeat and your own prayer will fill the space around these hot stones. After 50 to 80 minutes in this very personal space, you will come out and find back into the contact with others and with the world. There will be no expectation of sharing or talking with others. The sweatlodge is an ancient ceremony not bound to any culture. It is a ceremony of humans living in nature, of humans fighting for a better life, of humans surrendering to a bigger reality then what they made themselves confident with. | |
